Makeup trends frequently change – some of them I choose to ignore either because it’s not my taste or it wouldn’t appeal to my clientele! There’s usually one or two I like to embrace especially if I want to remain current. So, in terms of makeup, what should we expect to see in 2017? Here are some of my favourite makeup trends to look out for in 2017, according to the experts!
1. “No Makeup” Makeup
I love the idea of this look – no visible makeup, just a pinch of colour on the cheeks. I’m a huge fan of Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue which is a tinted hydrating gel cream. This is great for days when I want some coverage but not the heavy makeup look. A bonus is that it’s also good for my skin!
2. Statement Eyeliner
This can be glitter liner or a bold colour gel liner for the lids. I have Urban Decay glitter liners in gold and silver which can be used to add some glamour to a look. I also have two gel liners by Inglot in red and bright blue – I’m still waiting for an opportunity to use these to create a striking look! They are ideally worn on the lids with no other visible eye makeup.
3. Less Contouring
Heavy contouring is on the way out and will be replaced by subtle bronzing instead. You can still add shape and definition but in a softer, more natural way. My favourite contour palette is Anastasia Beverley Hills Contour Kit. I like it because it can be used both for a natural look or built up for a more defined look.
4. Seriously Bright Eyeshadow
We all love our nude palettes and these will always be needed but lots of brands are releasing palettes in bright, highly saturated pigments. One of my favourites is Urban Decay’s Electric Palette because the colours are really vibrant.
5. Glossy Lips
We’ll see a shift back to shinier, glossier lips. I love the High Definition range of lip glosses as they are highly pigmented and enriched with antioxidant vitamin E which keep lips moisturised and looking visibly plumped.
6. Cleaner Brows
Brows will become more groomed with a cleaner, sharper arch coming back. I can’t do without my High Definition Browtec pencil for helping create a naturally defined brow. The firm texture makes the brow pencil easy to control and apply. With excellent colour, the Browtec has a non-oily formula and contains a blend of waxes so application is easy and coverage is long lasting.
I hope you find this helpful for when you go to refill your makeup bag! Like me you may not like them all but why not pick one or two and give them a try?
