Do you want to make your eyes sparkle? Using glitter on your eyes is a great way to increase your glam factor and a fun way to dress up your everyday look.
For some people glitter makes them cringe and for others they can’t get enough! It’s been making a comeback. A chic way to wear it is creating a simple line across your upper lids. Here are some more top tips for using glitter eye makeup:
Top Tips
Apply eye primer. This is a base for your eye makeup and will create a smooth palette for the shadow and make it last longer.
Apply a cream eyeshadow all over your lid. Use a shade that matches your skin tone for a subtle look, or choose a saturated colour for a more dramatic look. The cream helps the glitter particles stay in place. Alternatively, use a small amount of Vaseline or a colourless balm.
Choose the right colours. Creating a smoky eye using glitter shadow creates a more dramatic look. One of the most important things to consider is which colour of shadow you want. If you want to create a more subtle look, use a shadow that matches your natural skin tone.
If you want to highlight your eye colour, glitter eye-shadow can help you do that. To make brown eyes pop, use a cream shade. To make green eyes glow, try a shadow with a reddish tint. Most brown shadow shades are very pleasing colours for blue eyes – I also love to use purple on blue eyes as it helps accentuate them. Gray is also great for smoky eyes and is one of my favourite colours to use as it works on all skin tones.
Glitter eye makeup comes in many different forms – you can buy powders, gels or pencils. If this is your first time experimenting with glitter I would recommend purchasing an eyeshadow palette. There are many to choose from but one of my favourites is the Urban Decay Moondust palette.
A cat eye (upper lid eyeliner flick) can add an extra wow factor to your look and to make the cat eye pop even more, use eyeliners with glitter in them.
Try to prevent mess as you don’t want to end up with glitter all over your face! I always do eye makeup first. That way, I can wipes off any excess without ruining the foundation or if I make a mistake I can start again without having to reapply the rest of the makeup.
There are no rights or wrongs when it comes to using glitter. Enjoy experimenting to create the desired look! You can even add glitter to your eyebrows, eyelashes or lips if you want to be even more creative!
